Philippa joined the Museum in 1984 as a Museum Assistant half-time in Ornithology and half-time in Arachnids and Helminths. The following year, she moved full-time to Ornithology.  In 1991, following the departure of the last Curator of Birds, Philippa became the Collection Manager in Ornithology. In 2019 she became an Honourary Research Associate.  Philippa conducts collection-based research and current projects include: the bird chapter in the latest (online) edition of the Census of South Australian Vertebrates; a history of ornithology at the Museum; an annotated list of the type specimens of birds in the Museum; and early records of the Painted Finch from South Australia.
