Harold Llewellyn Sheard was a storekeeper at Gawler and later took over a general business at Nuriootpa (SA).
Sheard became a foundation member of the Anthropological Society of South Australia in 1926 where he first met Charles Mountford. Sheard was interested in ethnology and joined Mountford on weekend anthropological excursions. He researched and wrote in the field of anthropology and published in the Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia.
Sheard retired to Port Elliot (SA). During the 1950s and 1960s he was a member of and wrote for the Port Elliot Publicity Committee. His collection in the South Australian Museum Archives comprises photographs and a register.
