Reginald Williams worked as a young man at the Mount Margaret Mission in Western Australia. In 1927 he participated in a missionary expedition with Bill Wade to the Central Australian Aboriginal Reserve. In the 1930s he worked for some time with Adnyamathanha people at Nepabunna in the Flinders Ranges, before establishing a leatherwork business in Adelaide.

His collection in the South Australian Museum Archives comprises photographs of Australian Aboriginal people.
