Yanardilyi (Cockatoo Creek) Jukurrpa

An acrylic painting on canvas, painted at Yuendumu in 1996. (300 by 400 cms.)
The owners and custodians of these Dreamings painted the canvas at Yuendumu, in 1996. More than twenty artists worked together on the painting. They visited the sites, told the stories, danced and sang them, and painted them. For the Warlpiri and Anmatyerre painters these stories and places are their own heritage, their own true history. They are the part of the Jukurrpa, the Dreaming.

The artists were Victor Jupurrurla Ross, Darby Jampijinpa Ross, Jack Jakamarra Ross, Samson Japaljarri Martin, Thomas Jangala Rice, Dadu Nungarrayi Gorey, Andrea Nungarrayi Martin, Nancy Napurrurla Oldfield, Ruth Napaljarri Oldfield, Lucy Napaljarri Kennedy, Jeanie Nungarrayi Egan, Una Nungarrayi Tilmouth, Judith Nungarrayi Martin, Dolly Nampijinpa Daniels, Uni Nampijinpa Martin, Judy Nampijinpa Granites, Queenie Nungarrayi Stewart, Valerie Napaljarri Martin, Bess Nungarrayi Price, Maggie Napaljarri Ross, Marlette Napurrurla Ross, David Jupurrurla Kennedy, Kay Napaljarri Ross, Sarah Nampijinpa Singleton, Grace-Marie Nampijinpa Tilmouth, Cassidy Napaljarri Stockman, Judy Napaljarri Oldfield, Anna-Rita Napurrurla Wilson, Ruby Nampijinpa Forrest.
