Robert Bedford, a biologist, emigrated from England in 1915 and settled in Kyancutta on Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. In 1929 he opened the Kyancutta Museum and Library where he exhibited his large collection of ethnological, palaeontological and natural history specimens. His manuscript collection in the South Australian Museum Archives comprises ethnographic notes on the Australian Aboriginal people of Eyre Peninsula and some photographs.
