South Australian Museum - North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia 5000

At the time dinosaurs roamed the land much of the rock that was to form South Australia was beneath a huge inland sea – the Eromanga Sea. As a result our state has many fossils of giant swimming reptiles, but little evidence of dinosaurs, which were restricted to the land. The museum does have on display two copies of North American dinosaurs – an Allosaurus fragilis and the skull of Tyrannosuarus rex.
