10am - 5pm daily
Special Exhibition Gallery, Ground Floor
Punuku Tjukurpa offers the first opportunity for audiences to view work from the magnificent Maruku Arts archive, representing three generations of artists for whom the tradition of wood carving has been passed down.
Integral to the imparting of these physical skills to the next generation is the teaching of the stories which form the basis for the intricate designs and markings known as walka.
This exhibition is a view into one of Australia's finest art movements and a celebration of the sharing of culture.
Free exhibition, on display at the South Australian Museum from 28 March until 17 May 2015.
