Crescent Nailtail Wallaby, Onychogalea lunata

The Crescent Nailtail Wallaby lived in eucalypt woodlands and mulga woodlands in a vast area of southern and central Australia. Last South Australian record: 1930's, Musgrave Ranges.

A mainly solitary animal, the Crescent Nailtail Wallaby rested during the day under a shrub or low tree, often emerging during the afternoon to bask in the sun. It grazed at night. The causes of its decline are not known but it seemed unable to co-exist with grazing livestock.
