Stage 2 - Ediacaran fossils

Fossils of the Ediacara biota, from the Flinders Ranges, are simply the sandstone impressions of soft-bodied animals without skeletons or shells.

Some of these animal impressions look like the ancestors of living groups such as corals, sponges, starfish and worms. Others are so bizarre that it seems they may be members of entirely extinct groups.

Stage 2 - Cambrian fossils

The Origin Energy Fossil Gallery will also feature the extinct Megafauna of South Australia, including the marsupials and reptiles from the World Heritage Victoria Caves near Naracoorte, and newly discovered fossils from Burra.
