Journey to the Abyss

What lies 2km beneath the ocean's surface? Find out in this summer's blockbuster exhibition full of real deep-sea creatures from our own collections. The kids will love the interactive submersible and investigation stations. Exhibition entry fees apply. 

School Holiday Program: Under the Sea

Stay cool this summer holidays Under the Sea! Follow the trail to discover the secrets of the abyss, make your own glow-in-the-dark sea creature, sing and dance along with Captain Splash and so much more! 

Sprigg Lecture

The ever-popular Sprigg Lectures are back and they're bigger and better than ever! Six Sprigg Lectures will run in 2012, starting with renowned author and anthropologist, the SA Museum's own Dr Philip Jones with 150 Years of Collecting at the South Australian Museum on 31 January. Lectures are free and bookings are now open on 08 8207 7090.

Tell Me a Story: Under the Sea

Discover the world under the sea in a free storytelling adventure that comes alive for 3-5 year olds. Bookings essential on 08 8207 7090.

Sea to Shore: A Prehistoric Encounter

See the South Australian Museum's fossil collections come alive in this world-first performance! Developed especially for the South Australian Museum based on our collections, this experience is one not to be missed! Suitable for the whole family. Book at BASS

Port Lincoln Roadshow

Join the South Australian Museum's Out of the Glass Case roadshow in Port Lincoln on Thursday 16 February with a Night of Discovery. Chat to experts, bring along your natural objects for identification and enjoy performances by our singing palaeontologist, Professor Flint. A fun, free night out for the whole family! 

ANZANG Entries Open

Entries to the 2012 ANZANG Nature Photography competition will open on Monday 16 January 2012. Submit your photographs online for a chance to become a finalist in this annual photographic competition. 

Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize Entries Open

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize. Entries will open on 30 January 2012. Enter your paintings, works on paper, and sculptures into this prestigious prize, in a year that is set to be bigger than ever!
