What support can teachers get at the Museum?
Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) Education Managers have developed student programs that are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and TfEL for each gallery.
A DECD Education Manager is based at the Museum and along with Museum volunteers can take your class for a lesson in a gallery when they are available. These lessons are inquiry based and encourage student participation. The DECD Education Manager can also provide Professional Development for groups of teachers.
Teachers can ring the Education Office to discuss customised programs for classes. If you have an idea to use the Museum in a novel way we may be able to negotiate a special program to meet your needs.
Downloadable programs are available for teachers to support students with self-guided tours around the Museum.
There are many ways to work with students in the galleries. See some of our ideas for working with students in a gallery.
