Out of the Glass Case is an innovative initiative to support lifelong learning in remote communities; it brings museum experiences to children who may never have been outside of their local community.

Annually a team of South Australian Museum scientists and educators travel to metro, regional and remote areas and, working with community leaders and schools present workshops, educational activities and events that engage communities in STEM, nature and culture. This program travels to the (Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands each September and to a wide range of areas in South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

The programs are specifically tailored to each community, allowing them to access the Museum’s stories, collections, research and science.

What people are saying:

We are too often overlooked in the country for just about everything. It is truly touching to have a group such as yourselves offer such a high quality program for rural and remote schools. The groups providing financial support for this initiative should know that their funding enriches not only the learning of country kids, but truly enriches their lives, opens their eyes beyond what their local community offers them and broadens their future potentials. Thank you.
