ð information leaflets and brochures
ð referrals to other institutions and information services
ð access to the expertise of staff in all areas of the Museum

INDIGENOUS INFORMATION CENTRE

Australia's Aboriginal people belong to one of world's oldest continuous living cultures. Over thousands of years they have successfully adapted to a changing environment, including the more recent impact of European colonisation. Aboriginal people have developed a unique way of life that combines a deep spiritual attachment to their country; a strong sense of community; and an ability to respond to change in creative and innovative ways.

Indigenous staff members are available in the Indigenous Information Centre to assist the public with general inquiries and extend the information available in the Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery. Other services provided by the Indigenous Information Centre are:

  • Aboriginal Family History research
  • Cultural tourism information
  • Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery Indigenous guided tours
  • Indigenous resources
  • Multimedia interactive computers
  • CD Rom library
  • Audio/visual facilities
