Volunteers, interns and students make a significant contribution to the Museum in many different ways, including enhancing visitor experiences, sharing the stories of our cultural and natural heritage, and assisting us with caring and conducting research on our collections. 

Volunteer positions are advertised on this page as vacancies become available.

For student placements or internships, please contact us via your academic institution so that we can ensure that your placement will meet your course requirements. Note we do not offer placements to students under 18 years of age

 

Expressions of Interest for Museum Host Role

 

Thank you for enquiring re volunteering. We are currently looking for expressions of interest for our Front of House section for the South Australian Museum in our entry position is as a Museum Host.

 

We ask that you review the role description and if you feel the position is right for you please send your CV and a brief introduction along with why you want to volunteer and would be a suitable candidate to volunteering@samuseum.sa.gov.au

 

Induction for successful applicants will begin in mid-May and you will be sent an invitation to attend an induction session for safety procedures and a general overview of the Museum lasting approx. 2 – 2.5 hours.

 

Applicants will need to be available for 4 x 3 hour shifts in the first month for the trial period (1 per week) as per shift times. Thereafter the minimum is 2 x 3 hour shifts per month.

 

Shift times are 9:45am – 12:45pm, 12pm – 3 pm & 2 pm – 5pm

You will need to be available during week times as well as weekends.
