The Museum's 165th Birthday Celebration Dinners

Join us to celebrate 165 years of your Museum.

We want to celebrate with you, share stories, and hear what you love about the Museum. So, just before our birthday on June 18, we have created two very special after-hours dining experiences in some of the Museum’s most loved gallery spaces.

Hosted by Museum Director, Brian Oldman, with our Head of Research and Collections, Professor Steve Donnellan, you will enjoy a selection of canapes and drinks, followed by an inspired dinner event that is rich conversation about the Museum, its history and our exciting plans for the future.

Our Museum Catering team have carefully curated a very special menu for the evening. You can look forward to delicious;

  • tea-smoked kangaroo fillet

  • sweet potato & caramelised eschalot tartlet

  • beef eye fillet

  • chicken with pancetta & lemon myrtle

  • lamington with raspberry jam

  • quandong tartlet

  • accompanied by wonderful South Australian beverages

Our 165 Birthday Celebration Dinners are supporting our Museum 165 Appealwhich is raising much needed funds to care, conserve and share our collections. The Museum is home to over 4 million incredible objects that we hold in trust. These objects and their stories are fundamental to understanding and documenting the history, cultures, and natural history of South Australia from deepest time and into the future.

Every ticket purchased directly supports the South Australian Museum.
