School holiday programs are FREE

These summer holidays, celebrate our furry friends at the Museum! Put your little paws to work drawing your pet, and learn all about dog behaviour and why they act the way they do. Explore canine evolution and learn about puppy pop culture like our pals Lassie and Snoopy in our fur-tastic exhibition, Dogs: a story of our best friend. #samuseum #SamsBestFriend

Dog talks

January 6-10, 13-17, front lawns

11am daily Dog behaviour 101: What is your dog trying to tell you, and why do they act the way they do?

1pm daily Dog breeds; from Alsatians to Xoloitzcuintle: Do you have a favourite dog breed? Learn about the different kinds of dogs and how to choose one for your family.

Duration: 30 minutes

Recommended ages: 5-12

Join Tegan from Dog Consultancy and find out all about dogs! Tegan is involved in most aspects of the dog world - she breeds, shows, trains, and loves her own six dogs, and runs a dog rescue.

Dog sculptures

Jan 6-17, 10am-3pm daily, front lawns

Help decorate our lawn sculpture, and make your own tiny dog to take home.

Paw-traits

January 6-17, 10am-5pm daily, level 2 Learning Space

Draw a picture of your furry (or scaley, hairy, spikey, feathery…) friend! Take it home, send it to someone, or leave it on display at the Museum.

Selfie station

January 6-17, 10am-5pm daily, main foyer

Take a photo at the selfie station and post it with the hashtags #samuseum and #SamsBestFriend to win a Museum Family Membership.

Rover’s retreat

January 6-10, 13-17, 10am-5pm daily, front lawns
