JF Bailey was Curator of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens (1905 - 1916, Government Botanist 1915 - 1916 and Director Adelaide Botanic Gardens 1917 - 1932.

Bailey accompanied Dr Walter Edmund Roth (AA 271) and Mr Charles Hedley on an expedition which visited Bentinck Island, Qld in July 1901.

The collection comprises 10 negatives, 9 lantern slides and one group photographic print, all acquired by Norman Barnett Tindale (AA 338) in the 1960s.
