Opening times & location

The Museum is open every day from 10am–5pm, including weekends and all public holidays except Christmas Day and Good Friday. We open at 12 noon on ANZAC Day (25 April).

The Terrace Eatery is open 10am-4pm daily, including weekends.

The Terrace Coffee caravan is open from 8am Monday-Friday.

The Museum Shop is open 10am-4pm daily, including weekends.

The Discovery Centre is open from 10:30am-2:30pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Discovery Centre is currently unable to accept any donations or specimens for identification. We kindly ask that if you have an object you would like identified, please email your pictures to: discovery@samuseum.sa.gov.au.

Facilities & tours

We are not able to offer group or guided tours or accommodate external tour groups at this time.

In the meantime, our Front of House staff will happily recommend some alternative self-guiding options for your visit.

Access & inclusion

The South Australian Museum is dedicated to ensuring that all visitors have an enjoyable experience at the Museum. If you need any assistance during your visit, please ask our friendly front of house staff.

The Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair can also be booked with our security staff for use within the Museum. All exhibits within the Museum can be accessed with a lift available to all levels.

Museum Eatery & Shop

The Terrace Eatery is a relaxed and welcoming spot for grabbing a quick bite to eat or a coffee during your Museum visit or alternatively enjoy a bit of retail therapy at the Museum Shop.

The Museum Shop is a haven for books, toys, unique handmade crafts, jewellery, and items you won’t find anywhere else. With more than 10,000 items, you’re sure to find that special something.
