Opening times & location

Entry is free. There may be a charge for some special exhibitions. Museum Members receive unlimited free VIP entry to all exhibitions.

The Museum will reopen on 8 June. It is open every day from 10am–5pm, including weekends and public holidays.

The Museum shop is open every day from 10am-5.00pm.

We open at 12 noon on ANZAC Day (25 April).

We are closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Facilities & tours

Due to COVID-19 we are not able to offer tours at this time.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our free public tours, showing selected highlights of the Museum, when government health advice allows.

In the mean time our Front of House staff will happily recommend some alternative self-guiding options for your visit.

Access & inclusion

The South Australian Museum is dedicated to ensuring that all visitors have an enjoyable experience at the Museum. If you need any assistance during your visit, please ask our friendly front of house staff.

The Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair can also be booked with our security staff for use within the Museum. All exhibits within the Museum can be accessed with a lift available to all levels.

Museum Café & Shop

The Museum Café is a relaxed and welcoming spot for grabbing a quick bite to eat or a coffee during your Museum visit or alternatively enjoy a bit of retail therapy at the Museum Shop.

The Museum Shop is a haven for books, toys, unique handmade crafts, jewellery, and items you won’t find anywhere else. With more than 10,000 items, you’re sure to find that special something.
