Reverend Freund was born on the 6th July, 1907 at Eudunda, South Australia.
In 1934 Reverend Freund was the Lutheran Minister at Arno Bay, Eyre Peninsula. In 1936 he went to the Orrke-Siassi Island, New Guinea until the Pacific War. After war service he returned to the Western Highlands 1948-1950. He translated portions of the Bible into Pidgeon English.
His book "Missionary turns spy. Pastor APH Freund's story of his service with the New Guinea Coast Watchers in the war against Japan 1942-43", Lutheran Homes Inc, Adelaide. 1989 incorporates maps and photographs to compliment his part in the Coast Watchers organisation.
