Arrived Brisbane 1883, exhibiting in the annual Queensland National Association exhibition in 1884. In partnership with DH Hutchinson in the Elite Photo Co he was responsible for the colouring and overpainting of portraits. He maried Caroline Johnson in 1885.
He exhibited an oil portrait of 'King Sandy' in 1888, later setting up in Adelaide between 1891 and 1895.
The Queensland Museum has a notable collection of his Aboriginal portraits.
Photographic copies of a large colour portrait of 'Tommy Walker and his Lubra' were provided by a private collection.
