Iver Christian Biltoft was born in 1862 in Lydum, Denmark. He immigrated to Rockhampton, Australia in 1873 where he became a photographer from 1882-1892. He then moved to Western Australia.His studio was located in Kalgoorlie. It is unknown whether Biltoft took the photo.
The photograph was donated to the South Australian Museum by Ingham Banyan on 11 February 1970.
