Elizabeth Lyle Austin is the daughter of Edward Lyle Austin whose photographs of Wilpena Pound from 1935 make up this collection. Edward Lyle Austin was born in 1899 at Donnybrook WA. He was the eldest of 7 children. He studied Mathematics and Engineering at Broken Hill school of Mines and worked as a surveyor for much of his working life, including at Leigh Creek in the Flinders Ranges. He was a keen photographer. He joined the Anthropological Society of South Australia and was Secretary form 1940-56. This collection of slides is from a trip to Wilpena Pound Austin undertook with his uncle Harry Austin and his brothers in 1935.
