The series contains photographs taken of Australian Aboriginal prisoners at the Port Augusta Gaol, Australian Aboriginal trackers and police officers in South Australia and Northern Territory. This series also contains Port Augusta Prison Records with photographs, fingerprints and the following data: Register No, Name, Age, Place of Birth, Complexion, Hair, Eyes, Occupation, Sentenced at, Sentenced on, Sentenced for and Sentenced to.

In addition there is a set of prints of Australian Aboriginal prisoners at the Adelaide Gaol and of the Goal itself. Annotations recorded on the photographed have been cited in quotation marks.
