Discovery cases

Borrow artefacts or specimens in a ‘discovery case’ from the Museum.

Invite the Museum into your classroom and get up close and personal with a case of artefacts and specimens. The Discovery Cases provide students with a hands-on experience as they are able to touch and remove many of the items in the cases.

Discovery case topics include:

- Aboriginal technologies

- Ancient Egypt

- Fossils

- Insects

- Meteorites

- Spiders

- Pacific cultures

- Beachcombing

Discovery Cases are available for loan for a handling fee of $60 for 2 weeks (including GST).

Each case is supported by resource materials that address the Australian Curriculum.

Booking your case

Please email education@samuseum.sa.gov.au to request a booking for a case. These cases may be collected from the Museum’s front desk or you may organise your own courier at your school’s expense to deliver anywhere in South Australia. Case collection and return is usually on a weekend, however other times may be negotiated.

In line with our COVID-safe plan we will sanitise each case before and after use. Teachers and students are requested to use hand sanitizer before handling objects.
