This collection includes photographic material and diary entries of and related to the oil painting 'Skipper Family at Islington'. Herbert Hale (see AA 124) refers to the painting as being titled 'Home at Islington, S.A.'

According to the notes of Herbert Hale, from January 1947, the following was written on the back of the original painting:
'Mr. and Mrs JM Skipper: Children: Mrs Georgina Marshall [, Mrs] Helen Sawtell [, Mrs] Fanny Edwards [, Mrs] Isabel Robinson [, and] Spencer John Skipper (Journalist on the 'Register'; nom de plum 'Hugh Kalyptus').'
