The diaries are numbered from 0-77. Numbers 1, 4, 5 and 32 are missing. The diaries cover all aspects of Waites life from personal to work related. They start in Leeds UK, the Museum at Leeds his move to Australia and the Australian Museum, the move to New Zealand and the Canterbury Museum and then back to Australian at the South Australian Museum. and the various collecting trips he undertook throughout his lifetime. Included in the diaries are hand drawn sketches, newspaper clippings, letters, cards, receipts and photographs. These diaries are a remarkable view of the scientists, scientific institutions and museums of Waite's generation.
