This collection consists of 7 photograpic albums (3 of which are duplicates) taken during the Elder Scientific Exploration Expedition from 1891-1892 to western South Australia and Western Australia.

The albums have a mounted printed index leaf plus original albumen paper photographs (each plate approximately 132 x 200 mm), mounted one per page on each side of thick card leaves with numbered and printed captions below the photograph.
