McConnel deposited a collection of material culture items at the South Australian Museum, in the late 1920s. These labels describe material culture specimens held by the South Australian Museum.
The set comprises of 136 cardboard labels of various sizes, handwritten by several different individuals in ink and pencil. Several of the labels are written in a faded dark coloured ink, others are written in blue ink, some feature pencil notes, others feature black ink overwritten more recently in a lighter blue ink. Ursula McConnel's handwriting, corrections and signature are prevalent.
Many of the labels are written in handwriting that may belong to 'Ms Spence', who was acknowledged by McConnel for her assistance in field trips, these labels feature corrections in McConnel’s handwriting. Tindale's handwriting appears on several labels as do notes pertaining to the material culture collection being sprayed for borers.

There is correspondence that relates to these labels in the Herbert Hale Collection (AA 124). In this correspondence, Hale and McConnel negotiate a time for McConnel to come and work upon the specimens to which the labels belong.
