Ngadlu tampinthi ngadlu Kaurna Miyurna yartangka. Munaintya puru purruna ngadlu-itya. Munaintyanangku yalaka tarrkarriana tuntarri.

We acknowledge we are on Kaurna Miyurna land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.

Cultural Sensitivity Warning
It is a condition of use of the cultural components of the Museum Archives that users ensure that any disclosure of information contained in this collection is consistent with the views and sensitivities of Indigenous people. Users are warned that there may be words and descriptions that may be culturally sensitive and which might not normally be used in certain public or community contexts. Users should also be aware that some records document research into people and cultures using a scientific research model dating from the first half of the twentieth century, and depicts people as research subjects in ways which may today be considered offensive. Some records contain terms and annotations that reflect the author's attitude or that of the period in which the item was written, and may be considered inappropriate today in some circumstances. Users should be aware that in some Indigenous communities, hearing names of deceased persons might cause sadness or distress, particularly to the relatives of these people. Furthermore, certain totemic symbols may also have prohibitions relating to the age, initiation and ceremonial status or clan of the person who may see them. Records included may be subject to access conditions imposed by Indigenous communities and/or depositors. Users are advised that access to some materials may be subject to these terms and conditions that the Museum is required to maintain.

Archive Collections / Graeme Lloyd Pretty / Series AA 255/16 / Roonka Excavations, General Flat Survey and Surface Finds in the vicinity of Trench A.

Four notebooks relating to the work done and samples collected - notebooks titled "General Flat Survey".

  1. Roonka Excavations General Flat Survey (front of notebook), Finds.
Roonka Excavations Vicinity of Trench A (back of notebook),
    Surface Finds.
. Front of notebook: Near the front of the notebook is a key to the various "Find" symbols used. Eg. "O" = oven, "SK" = human skeleton, "ASK" = animal skeleton etc. - 11 categories altogether.
The finds are listed by an identifying symbol plus number and a description.
Finds dated 12/5/1973 are on the first 15 pages.
Finds dated 23/6/1973 are on the next 11 pages. These start from "1" again and some (aboriginal, shell midden and oven finds) have been renumbered in pencil so that the sequence started for these in the first 15 pages is continued.
There is 1 Find dated 13/7/1974 and one dated July 1984.
After this is a list of Finds classed as "Aboriginal Finds", numbered 1 - 54.
The Finds numbered 1 - 51 have been extracted from the Finds listed on the first 26 pages of this notebook and reflect the renumbering where applicable.
    The Finds numbered 52 - 54 are dated 28/1/1987.
. Back of notebook: This is a list of "unprovenanced surface finds" from Roonka Flat in the vicinity of Trench A. Most are undated but the earliest dated Find was collected on 4/12/1962. The latest date in this list is 21/1/1974.
    The Finds are numbered 1 - 228.
This list has been compiled as a summary from various sources and notebooks.
