This is the first of three volumes. Volume 3 contains an alphabetical index for all three journals. The volume concludes on page 473 and is followed by a 123-page appendix. The journal entries have been handwritten on the right-hand side, leaving the left for annotations, drawings etc. Included in the volume is a contents list, newspaper and magazine clippings, telegram, programmes, postcards, maps, invitations, plans, bus timetable, black and white photographs, flora samples, menus, music scores, a letter received, and farewell card.
