Large, annotated cloth-backed colour map of Murray River drainage system that folds into rectangles for field use. Map was 'Prepared under Special Instructions from the Hon. Sir Henry Parkes, G.C.M.G. Premier of New South Wales. By H.G. McKinney, M.Inst.C.E., Commissioner in Charge of the Murray River. 1891.' Contains hand-written title page on cloth (author unknown). Tindale sketched boundaries in northwestern corner of New South Wales to South Australian border. He also noted in pencil three Aboriginal place names at Coolangatta south to Lismore, New South Wales. A note next to Lake Bringalbert, Victoria reads: 'axe found in mound (Lindsay)'. Additional note by Tindale in black pen near Roma, New South Wales, along Bungil Creek reads: ' H & S Stein letter 25 July [19]64'.
