Hand-bound book of maps - vicinity of Adelaide

This untitled hand-bound booklet of brown card contains six annotated colour topographical maps of places in the vicinity of Adelaide:

  • Semaphore

  • Millbrook

  • Henley

  • Uraidla

  • Brighton

  • Aldgate



Tindale recorded Aboriginal place names, camp sites and archaeological data in india ink, pencil and crayon, with dunes sketched in yellow. 'Henley' map includes Fulham Site and 'known ceremonial ground'. 'Brighton' includes sites at Glenelg and Hallet Cove. The name and address of 'F. J. Hall' is crossed out on the cover and replaced with 'N B. Tindale S.A.M. Adelaide'. Maps were 'Compiled from Reconnaissance Surveys by W. H. Edmunds'. Scale 1 inch = 1 mile.
