This shoebox contains two main sections. The cards in the first section (13.5 cm) have been drawn from Tindale's manuscript materials and remain at an early stage of preparation: they contain only an Aboriginal word and a reference to one of Tindale's journals (AA 338/1/31/1 and AA338/1/33/1-2 are commonly cited). A working note on yellow paper about 4 cm in reads: 'working place May 1990. Vol.2 keep in order of pages where possible. I did not find these cards for V.2 until I had already worked to p.54. I will use them whenever possible. They were typed early in my Place name work'. Further working notes at the back of the section suggest that 'Vol.2' is volume two of Tindale’s 'Journal of Researches in the South East of S. Australia' (AA 338/1/33/2).The second section contains a number of cards under the header 'To be sorted' (5 cm). Most of the latter entries are string-bound bibliographic cards (4.4 cm).
