Naturalist Charles Barrett, in his publication 'In Australian Wilds', writes "It was in October 1909 that the Australasian Ornithologists' Union held a working camp out on Eyre's peninsula. The party numbered twenty-six, ...There were botanists and entomologists, as well as bird students...". The expedition is mentioned by J.D. Somerville in an article in the 'Port Lincoln Times', 4 December 1936.
