This item contains 216 photographs taken during the University of California Los Angeles expedition of 1952-54 in which JB Birdsell was a participant. This volume contains individual subject photographs which consist of a portrait and profile view of individuals examined during the expedition. There are a number of related expedition photographs some of which contain captions and dates. Subjects include: expedition related photographs, portraits, ceremonies, missions, stations, ruins, landscapes, horses, camels, cattle, stockmen, birds, yandying metals, mining, industry, coastline, wharves, boats. Locations noted in annotations include: Pilbara, Pilgangoora, Mandora (Western Australia), Fitzmaurice River and Daly River (Northern Territory).
