Nitrate negatives depicting various Australian Aboriginal subjects

This item consists of 14 nitrate negatives stored in a bag in the nitrate freezer in the South Australian Museum Archive. They depict a range of Australian Aboriginal subjects. There are acetate negatives of all of the nitrate negatives in this item, and photographic prints of all but one, elsewhere in this collection. The nitrate negatives depict the following:

  • Six negatives depict the injured feet of an Australian Aboriginal man, as described at AA 91/1/13 and AA 91/1/18.


  • Three negatives depicting an older Australian Aboriginal man in front of corrugated iron, as described at AA 91/1/9 and AA 91/1/14.


  • Two negatives depicting a shirtless subject from behind. The subject is standing in front of a sandstone wall. These images have been described at AA 91/1/8 and AA 91/1/16.


  • One negative depicting an Australian Aboriginal man standing outdoors, as described at AA 91/1/11 and AA 91/1/15.


  • One negative depicting a profile of an Australian Aboriginal man standing outdoors, as described at AA 91/1/10 and AA 91/1/19.


  • One negative depicting a profile of an Australian Aboriginal man in front of a chain-link fence, annotated, as described at AA 91/1/12.
