This item consists of a green 'Dandy' notebook binder (measuring 22.0x14.5 cm). 'F. Fenner' is written on the first page of the notebook. The notebook is divided into sections with cardboard tab dividers labelled 'Present', 'Fossil', and 'Talgai'. The different sections contain various tables of dental and cranial measurements. Annotations indicate that some of the measurements appear to have been taken from published sources.

The notebook also contains 14 loose illustrations of human lower jawbones. Most of the illustrations are annotated with South Australian Museum specimen numbers, dental measurements, location of origin, and the date. The illustrations are mostly dated late 1923 and early 1924 (they may have been drawn by TD Campbell (AA 52), who was conducting dental research at the South Australian Museum at the time and who published Campbell, TD (1925) Dentition and Palate of the Australian Aboriginal, University of Adelaide Publications, Adelaide).

The notebook contains references to the following locations where human remains were found: Swanport (South Australia), Murray Bridge (South Australia), Morgan (South Australia), Rhodesia (Africa), Talgai (Queensland), Piltdown (Piltdown Quarry, Sussex, England), Spy, (Belgium), Heidelberg (Germany) and LaChappelle (location unknown).
This item appears to be a general notebook used by Fenner when he was conducting cranial research and working in physical anthropology at the South Australian Museum and studying at the University of Adelaide.
