57. 'Close of a ceremony associated with Black snake [thalaualla] totem. Waramunga. The youth on the left side is having the meaning of the ceremony explained to him by an old man. He had been initiated (subincision) about a week earlier. One of these youths we saw initiated on that occasion.'
