Home at Islington, SA.
John Michael Skipper and Frances Amelia Thomas were fellow passengers on the ship 'Africaine' which arrived at Holdfast Bay on November 6th, 1836. They Married in 1839 and in 1840 were living at Islington.
JM Skipper came out under articles of clerkship to Charles Gwynne, first Crown Solicitor. He was later admitted to the Bar and practised in Waymouth Street, Adelaide. He died in 1883. Born at Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich England June 15th, 1815. Voyaged to India in 1834 as a midshipman on the armed East India Companys ship, 'Sherbourne'. His Uncle, James Slakr, was an RA JMS was an artist and painted this pciture [sic]. His father was John Skipper, Solicitor of Norwich.
