"We had just completed twelve months training in the NT and we were travelling home on the Ghan for leave prior to embarking for New Guinea. That’s me in the centre rear, drinking a bottle of lolly water (which was sold in old beer bottles during the war). All my mates are drinking the heavier stuff."
