Remarks: According to Iris Wiley (1989) the new houses progressively replacing the old shelters in the foreground. At the time of this photo she believes the first of the new houses was Tarby Mason, then old Mr and Mrs Fletcher, then Disher family, then Jimmy James, Winnie and Fred Murray, then Alec Giles and then the church. In the left foreground were later built the houses of Ben and Hurtle Sumner. In the distance is the old mission house, where the cooks lived. On the right hand side, from the church end of the road, in the four new houses lived the Lindsays, the Hunters, Singh and Ivey and Eric Wilson. In the right hand side foreground lived Mrs Hirschausen.
