Day by day account of tasks and events. Page 11 titled 'Trip North May 1944' describes scenes depicted in the photographs from SAMA1155/1 and 2.

Rev. Laurie Reece carried out a survey of the area North West of Alice Springs in 1944 covering some 700 miles on camels with three Aboriginal guides. See SAMA 1155/6 "We sat where they sat" last page for route map. There are addditional cross reference notes for photographs in the L Reece collection AA 591.

Details daily events of trip into central Australia for Baptist mission written in pencil. Records the names of Australian Aboriginal men, women and children met at stations and camps. Makes descriptive correlations to the photographs in SAMA 1155/1 & 2.

Journal missing the back cover and spine. Front cover is faded blue cardboard. Pages loose and badly damaged at the bottom edges by insects or water. Conservation required.

Part of "We sat where they sat" compiled by Evan Reese paraphrases his father's journal of exploratory travel in the NT and parts of WA during the period 30 May to 9 July 1944. It also incorporates photographs mentioned in this finding aid (which are cross referrenced to series SAMA 1155/1 and SAMA 1155/2).
