The series was collected by the donor's father William Alfred (Bill) Twilley who was a fireman on The Ghan and also did constructin work from the WA end of the East-West line. Another portion of the collection is believed to have been loaned to the author Patsy Adam Smith for her book 'The Desert Railway' and may be available in 'the Patsy Adam Smith Archives.' 11 of the images have been colored (mostly in greens and orange). 15 of them have been annotated.
