A photograph album documenting the 1939 Simpson Desert Expedition under Cecil T Madigan (see AA202). The album belonged to Robert Crocker who was the botanist on the expedition. Photographs were taken by Madigan and David Marshall who was the expedition photographer.
The expedition consisted of 9 men and 19 camels; Cecil T Madigan (leader, navigator and geologist), Robert Langdon Crocker (botanist), Harold G Fletcher (Biologist), David Marshall (photographer), Robert A Simpson (wireless operator), Albert Hubbard (cook), Jack Bejah (camel driver), Andy (Aboriginal tracker), Nurie Moosha (camel driver), Ly Ly (Aboriginal man assist locating water) (6 days on expedition). They traversed 560km in 33 days. From Andado Station to Birdsville and then south to Lake Eyre and Marree.
