Other ways to support

Here at the South Australian Museum we rely on the generous donations from the community to fill the building with creativity and wonder.

Corporate sponsorship

Thanks to the ongoing support of the Museum’s corporate donors, audiences can engage with extraordinary collections in a unique setting. Corporate gifts support a broad range of initiatives at the Museum from special exhibition sponsorship, to educational programming for adults and children, to corporate membership, to new technologies and preservation of the Museum’s treasures. In return, companies receive exclusive Museum access, brand recognition, and engagement opportunities for employees, clients, and community partners.

Donating objects

The Cultural Gifts Program encourages Australians to donate items of cultural significance from private collections to public art galleries, museums, libraries and archives.

Gifts can range from paintings, books, sculptures, manuscripts and personal papers to jewellery and ceramics — even entire technological, mechanical, scientific or social history collections.

Gifts of objects made to the South Australian Museum under the Cultural gifts program will entitle you to a tax deduction, which may be spread over five years. All proposed gifts will need to approved by the Museum’s Acquisition Committee.

Employee giving

Many companies now offer a 'matching gift program', where they match their employees' charitable donations and double their value. This is an effective way for companies to support the not-for-profit organisations that are important to their employees while undertaking their corporate social responsibility. Patron program

Be part of the Patron program and take your support of the South Australian Museum to the next level.

Patrons enjoy a deeper experience through year-round insider access to Museum collections, research experts and leaders. Through specially designed events and private visits, each patron witnesses first hand how their support positively impacts the important work of the South Australian Museum.

Customised experiences along with individual concierge services will allow patrons to connect to additional Museum activities suited to their own needs and interests.

To find out how you can be part of the Patron program, or for a confidential conversation with the Patron program team, please phone 8207 7474 or email foundation@samuseum.sa.gov.au.
