Giabal (QLD)

LocationBetween Allora and about Dalby, east to near Gatton; west to Millmerran. Their valid alternative name Gomaingguru has the meaning of 'men of the Condamine'; the one given preference was that asserted to be their proper designation by a member of an adjoining tribe. They seem to be the people who spoke Paiamba when met by Ridley at Yandilla in October 1855. Winterbotham called this tribe Gitabal (1956 MS) having confused it with the Kitabal of the Woodenbong area of New South Wales and placed it in the territory of the Jagara.
