The sepia portrait of Truganini (Lallah Rookh), an Australian Aboriginal woman was taken in Feburary 1876 just prior to her death in Hobart by HH Baily.
The portrait is in the form of a card (62x103 mm). The obverse has the words "HH Baily Hobart Town" at the foot of the card. The printing on the reverse of the card reads "HH Baily from the London School of Photography, Prize Medalist, Highest award for album portraits, Melbourne Exhibition 1866-67. 94 Liverpool Street, Hobart Town. Tasmanian views from all parts of the island." It is marked "Truganini. Acc No 2101. Presented by Mr C Storry 23 Apr 1958. Died 1876 reported age 73. Orig Document"
