On the 21 July boarded the lugger St Francis to Bathurst Island to visit the Roman Catholic Mission. Also on board, the Mother Superior, a religious sister, Brother [Andrew] Smith and a Mr Ryan who employed Australian Aboriginal people [Tiwi] to catch snakes on Melville Island.
