Ngadlu tampinthi ngadlu Kaurna Miyurna yartangka. Munaintya puru purruna ngadlu-itya. Munaintyanangku yalaka tarrkarriana tuntarri.

We acknowledge we are on Kaurna Miyurna land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.

Cultural Sensitivity Warning
It is a condition of use of the cultural components of the Museum Archives that users ensure that any disclosure of information contained in this collection is consistent with the views and sensitivities of Indigenous people. Users are warned that there may be words and descriptions that may be culturally sensitive and which might not normally be used in certain public or community contexts. Users should also be aware that some records document research into people and cultures using a scientific research model dating from the first half of the twentieth century, and depicts people as research subjects in ways which may today be considered offensive. Some records contain terms and annotations that reflect the author's attitude or that of the period in which the item was written, and may be considered inappropriate today in some circumstances. Users should be aware that in some Indigenous communities, hearing names of deceased persons might cause sadness or distress, particularly to the relatives of these people. Furthermore, certain totemic symbols may also have prohibitions relating to the age, initiation and ceremonial status or clan of the person who may see them. Records included may be subject to access conditions imposed by Indigenous communities and/or depositors. Users are advised that access to some materials may be subject to these terms and conditions that the Museum is required to maintain.

'South Australia Unnumbered' data cards

One card series containing information on 37 individuals, identified by name, from various parts of South Australia. Cards are in varying formats and contain varying information. Most cards are in NB Tindale's hand. Some cards have notes on the reverse, including indicating that some of these individuals have had hand and/or face casts made. There are multiple cards on some individuals. This series of data cards appears to record an incomplete, experimental or opportunistic collection of data on some South Australian individuals, perhaps people known to NB Tindale, and including the following named individuals: Milerum (Clarence Long), David Unaipon, and Fred Murray. There is some overlap with the cards described below, AA346/4/5, 'South Australia Anthropological Data'.

Note that the data cards contain many variant spellings of tribal/language group names. In the descriptions here the various terms and spellings have been reproduced, with what appear to be amendments noted square brackets. It has not been possible in all cases to supply corresponding tribal/language group names according to standardised spellings adopted by NB Tindale (see AA 338) and AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies).

This card series includes reference to the following named groups: Arunta, 'Cold and Wet group', Kukata, Maraura, Ngarkat, Portaulun, Tangalun, Tangane, Tangarekald, Tatiara Tribe, 'Upper Murray', Wangarunta, Yaralde, Yaraldekalde, Yarilde [Narrinyeri], Yirkila Mining.

Tindale Tribes: Aranda; Jarildekald; Kokata; Maraura; Mirning; Ngarkat; Potaruwutj; Tanganekald.

AIATSIS Tribal/Language Groups: Arrernte; Bindjali; Kokatha; Meru; Mirning; Ngargad; Ngarrindjeri.

This card series includes references to the following regions of South Australia: Nullarbor - Great Victoria Desert; South East; River Murray - Coorong.

These cards are located in Drawer 1.
