  1. Handwritten letter in ink, on blue plain paper. Dated 3 June, 1912 from W. B. Simpson. 'Your Sincere Friend'. Thanking E. R. Waite for a copy of a Christchurch newspaper and congratulating him on the honour of being chosen to go on an Antarctic Voyage of discovery.

  2. Folded paper notecard, written in ink, headed 'Beechmount, Sawrey, Ambleside'. Dated 22 August, 1913 from Will Simpson. Thanking E. R. Waite for a copy of "The Press" and his interest in reading all about E. R. Waite's 'Antarctic wanderings'.

  3. Double sided pages from a notebook written in ink. On one page a reference for E. R. Waite from W. Derry, Borough Accountant recommending Waite for a position. The other page is dated 23 March 1887, written from Headingley and sent to George Brown. In regard to the enclosed testimonial from W. Derry and a specimen of Waites handwriting to assist in the matter mentioned to Brown by Sir George Morrison.
